JASPER COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Mattoon man was flown to a regional hospital by helicopter with what police describe as life-threatening injuries following a single vehicle crash in Jasper County.

According to Illinois State Police, Geoffery A. McGahey, 43, of Mattoon was driving a GMC truck southbound on N 600 Street in Jasper County, when for an unknown reason the truck left the roadway and overturned near the intersection with E 1900 Avenue. The crash happened at approximately 11 p.m. on April 14.

Police cited McGahey with DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, driving without a seatbelt, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
