VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Update: A second person has died following a crash on Rio Grande Ave near Deer Haven Ln.

According to the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, Kevin Mills, the passenger in the vehicle passed away on August 24.

DNA testing is underway for identification of the deceased driver in this vehicle accident.

Update: One person died and another person was severely injured in a crash Friday on Rio Grande Ave near Deer Haven Ln.

According to the Vigo Co. Sheriff’s Office, an investigation revealed that a truck left the roadway for unknown reasons and crashed into a tree.

After crashing, the truck reportedly caught on fire.

Police said one occupant was able to be freed from the truck and was flown for medical treatment with severe injuries.

The other occupant, believed to be the driver, was trapped inside and died at the scene.

The crash is still under investigation.

According to a post on Facebook, one person is reportedly in critical condition with one person still in the vehicle.

A helicopter was also called to the scene.

Transcare, Otter Creek Fire, Lyford Fire, Nevins Fire, Terre Haute City Police, and the Indiana State Police assisted at the scene.
