Local group raises new flag while remembering fallen heroes

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Memorial Day is a little different this year due to social distancing, but that’s not stopping the local community from remembering those we’ve lost.

The Freedom Warrior Militia held a flag-changing ceremony at 14th and Hulman in Terre Haute on Monday.

They took down an old, tattered flag and raised a new one.

Walter Steiger, a member of the group, says they felt putting up the new flag was a good way to honor the fallen.

Remembering those who have died for our country is something Steiger says people need to do beyond Memorial Day.
