Local garden center sees interest in flowers to ‘brighten the day’

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – While many people are at home during this time of social distancing, some may pick up a new hobby like gardening.

Tom Cummins, Co-Owner of the Apple House in Terre Haute, says they expect to have a full menu of products available next week.

He says they have received a lot of calls about what vegetables are available for planting. He also says mulch sales have increased because more people are doing their own mulching at home.

Gardening may also help people pass the time.

“We’re seeing just tremendous interest from people who just want to get something pretty in their yard just to brighten the day,” says Cummins.

He says gardening is not difficult if you follow some basic rules. Cummins says the Apple House is ready to answer any questions people have or give new gardeners advice.
