TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Friday marked 19 years since the 9/11 terrorists attacks.

In honor of lives lost that tragic day, flags across the country were brought to half staff.

Locally, a flag ceremony was held outside of Reach Services in downtown Terre Haute. Organizers said it is important to never forget the bravery and patriotism shown that fateful day.

“This is a very instrumental day in our country where we were attacked, and this is where a lot of our service members were called to action,” Melissa Gray said. “Thi was the day 2001, 9/11/2001 is when I decided to join the military myself. So this is really a day to honor who fell that day and our military.
