CLINTON, Ind. (WTWO-WAWV) — The following release from the South Vermillion Community School Corporation Superintendent outlines the suspension of an elementary school principal.

It states:

In compliance with the South Vermillion Board of School Trustees and NEOLA policy, the South Vermilion Community School Corporation has placed Central Elementary School Principal Ryan Jenkins on unpaid leave effective Tuesday September 26,2023.

Jenkins will serve a 20-day suspension, returning to his duties on October 31,2023.

Details surrounding the disciplinary action will not be released, as it is a personnel issue. The South Vermilion Board of School Trustees confirmed Jenkins was found to be in violation of two Board policies, Board Policy 3122 “Drug-Free Workplace” and Board Policy 3139 “Staff Discipline”. It is important to note that “Drug Free Workplace” encompasses multiple scenarios within a large policy. This action did not involve any illegal substance, but a valid prescription. It is also important to note that no students were involved.

Jenkins has served as an employee of the South Vermilion School Corporation since 2002. This is the first disciplinary action he has received.
