Local Efforts to Collect Gifts for Kids in Need

As the holidays approach, a local effort is underway to collect special gifts for children in need around the world.

The effort is called “Operation Christmas Child,” where volunteers will collect shoebox gifts at drop-off locations around the Wabash Valley. These gifts can include toys, school supplies, hygienic products, etc; which in most cases will be the first gift these children have ever received.

The Samaritan’s Purse project, partnering with churches worldwide, will deliver these gifts to children affected by war, disease, disaster, poverty and famine. More than 150,000 U.S. volunteers including families, churches and other groups are joining forces to contribute to the largest Christmas project of its kind.

Samaritan’s Purse hopes to collect enough Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts to reach 11 million children, but they need your help.

If you would like to participate in Operation Christmas Child, you can call 937-374-0761 or visit samaritanspurse.org/occ for more information.

Collections will take place from now until Monday, November 19th. To find a drop-off location in your area, just click here
