FARMERSBURG, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The state of Indiana announces more than $870,000 in funding to increase high-quality early childhood education.
The money is going to applicants in counties where On My Way Pre-K is now available. On My Way Pre-K was expanded statewide as a result of House Enrolled Act 1628, signed by Governor Eric Holcomb in May of 2019.
One of the grant recipients is Tik Tock Daycare in Farmersburg. It is receiving $6,877 from the state. A donor is matching that, bringing the total to over $13,000.
Cassandra Bush, co-owner of Tik Tock Daycare, says the money will help them operate a pre-school through On My Way Pre-K.
“Brand new furniture, brand new cubbies, lockers, chairs, tables and the rest of the money is going to be spent on curriculum. We’re going to be using creative curriculum and then, of course, we need brand new toys and brand new stuff to go along with that curriculum,” says Bush.
Tik Tock Daycare is enrolled in Paths to Quality and hopes to achieve a Level 3 rating by next year.
