TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — St. Benedict’s Church hosted an All Souls Day event Saturday evening to honor loved ones who have died.
Middle schoolers with the parish put together the Day of the Dead celebration in Helmann Hall. Following a special Mass, tacos were served and attendees viewed the Pixar movie ‘Coco’.
An ofrenda was also set up where people could place photos of their loved ones to symbolize a connection with the dead and a lack of fear over death and dying.
Catechist Veronica Rogers says this celebration allows the kids to understand that death doesn’t have to always be sad.
