Local business helps house stray dogs during pandemic

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The pandemic and need for social distancing has put a strain on animal shelters, but a local business is stepping up to help.

Ollie’s Canine Campus is partnering with the City of Terre Haute to rescue stray and displaced animals.

The business typically boards animals and offers training, and pet grooming services.

Owner Tom Kuhl says they have taken in about 20 animals in the past two weeks.

“We thought it was very important for us to be able to open our doors here and let those animals that are out in the streets, before they get hit or get killed or suffer in inclement weather days, give them a place to go and hopefully find them a forever home,” says Kuhl.

He says Ollie’s is planning to open a second location in the future so they can help even more dogs.
