Local law enforcement agencies are teaming up to add extra patrols to I-70 in Vigo County.
The Vigo County Sheriff’s Office and Terre Haute Police Department increased patrols on the interstate over the Easter weekend.
They expect to continue over the next couple of weeks.
They’re looking for aggressive and dangerous driving. It’s something they say is a major cause of accidents on I-70.
“State police does an excellent job keeping our highways safe, but I believe there’s strength in numbers and the more of us out there, the more squad cars that people see, the more they may watch what they’re doing and pay attention while they’re driving,” says Sheriff John Plasse.
Overtime traffic enforcement is funded through grants.
