ROBINSON, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) – Lincoln Trail College celebrated its 50th anniversary Sunday with a special ceremony.
The celebration included guest speakers and a groundbreaking ceremony.
The college is slated to expand in size by 13 percent, the equivalent of 11 acres.
This will be the first time the college has ever made an expansion, which will include several additions in the athletics department.
Sunday’s celebration included free food, games, and even bounce houses for children.
“From the time I hit the ground on July 2016, there’s been a group of about 70 or 80 people who are either affliated with the college or out in the community that we have been working shoulder to shoulder with and there have been a lot of long days and long planning hours and like I said what we’re talking about today, the addition in the soccer feilds is exciting the fact that we’re starting two new athletic programs out here is exciting but the fact that that’s happening in conjunction plans with a thirty three thousend square foot recreation center the fact that that’s happening in conjunction with a new production center for our performing arts it’s exciting,” said LTC President Ryan Gower.
LTC plans to make another groundbreaking in the near future on the Theater Renaissance, which will expand the Arts Center.
