The USAC Silver Crown series has a big race suit to fill in its season opener after last year’s Action Track finale saw Chris Windham and Chad Boespflug battled side by side nearly the entire race. This year when the series kicks things off at the Action Track not only can fans anticipate the same tight racing, but a historic race, all starting with this year’s large car count.

“Last time you saw at least 35 cars was 1998. A qualifying race will be added to the excitement which we haven’t seen since 2008 in the Silver Crown Series,” said USAC Media Relations, Richie Murray.

Out of that list 4 drivers are chasing the history books in becoming just the third driver to win the Sumar Classic twice and the first one to do so in 18 years. One of the four is Justin Grant who’s also chasing history of his own.

“In Sprint Car he won the season opener. In the USAC National Midget series he won the season opener. No driver has ever done that. This weekend he has a chance to run all three, came so close last year, just 7 laps away,” said Murray.

The USAC cars won’t be the only ones on track, the UMP modified will serve as the support class. You can get tickets online or at the gate Sunday. Hot laps begin at 3:30. Qualifying stars at 4:45 with racing scheduled at 5:15.
