Local elementary school students are learning all about keeping their bodies healthy through an event called C.A.R.E Days.
Retired teachers recruited volunteers to teach kids at Sullivan Elementary about how the body works.
The students went from station to station, learning about various organs and how to keep them healthy.
Those taking part hope the kids walk away with knowledge that will keep them healthy throughout their lives.
“It’s important for kids to understand their bodies and so many times in the classroom which is so important, they do learn lots of stuff, but they don’t always learn about themselves,” says Kathy Pirtle, a Nurse Practitioner at Sullivan Family Practice.
Indiana State University students who are studying a variety of health-related fields also volunteered at the event.
