Ladies night started a little early today in Brazil with Ladies Day Out.
An event that brings awareness to Wegener’s disease and profits the Clay County Youth Food Delivery Program .
The event is intended to make women feel beautiful. There were make up and jewelry vendors at the event and a fashion show for all ages is scheduled. Wegener’s is a disease that constricts blood flow to vital organs. This is the first year for Ladies Day Out, but it correlates with the Wegener’s awareness 5k run in May.
“Whenever I got diagnosed, my friends started the 5k to help me out with medical bills and stuff and now I want to do it in awareness of Wegener’s because it is such a rare disease, but I just want to spread awareness about it,” coordiantor of the event, Lecia Brown said.
Brown suffers from Wegener’s, she says it’s a silent killer, treated with chemo and steroids. She says she wants to give back to the community that came together for her.
