The U.S. Department of Justice has awarded the Knox county Drug Court a $500,000 Drug Court Enhancement Grant.
This money will be used to increase the program capacity, provide more training to team members, and perform a study to evaluate the effectiveness of the drug court program.
Since the start of the Knox County Drug Court in 2016, there have been 19 graduates from the program that typically takes 18-24 months to complete. The program is aimed at reducing recidivism, supervising participants through substance abuse treatment and helping them return to the workforce and society.
The funding of the grant will officially start January 1, 2019.
