Halloween is right around the corner. And although the holiday is meant to be a bit spooky, members of the Sullivan County Sheriffs Department don’t want it to be too scary.
That’s why they are stepping up patrols to ensure safety for you and your family by making sure offenders are complying.
” You need to know the areas that you are going to be going to. just don’t go up to and knock on random doors. Make sure you know whose house you are going to and make sure that’s a safe environment for your children,” says Sullivan County Sheriff Clark Cottom.
Sex offenders must be registered and have to stay away from certain areas based off of their offense. Officers advise parents to take caution on their own while Trick or Treating. Parents can search for sex offenders by address by going to the sex offender registry on the Indiana Sheriffs Department web site here.
