Comments, concerns and frustrations.
That’s what the public and county officials voiced Tuesday night regarding the proposed Vigo County jail.
Although there was no vote on the jail, taxpayers felt their repetitiveness with their issues is making a difference.
First commissioners and County Council members met in executive session.
Then the County Council held an open forum.
Residents who wanted to speak out regarding the jail could do so freely.
Instead of negative the overall tone of tonight’s meeting, those in attendance felt it was successful and refreshing.
“The three main concerns from the onset through this has been transparency,” says Bill Thomas, president of County Council. “It’s been size and scope and location.”
“I think it’s important that people let our elected officials know what we think and how we feel about things,” says Liz Brown, a chair and professor at ISU.
Tuesday’s meeting ended with usual business.
We’ll continue to follow this story and bring you any new developments on the jail as they become available.
