$26,000. That’s what two victims in Sullivan County are out due to a “jail and bail” phone scam.
And it has the Indiana State Police issuing a warning.
Police say the scam targets the elderly. The caller says their grandson has been jailed in some part of the U.S. and needs money to bail out.
The scammer advises the victim to send “overnight cash” to a personal address in the Bronx in New York City.
State Police is working with the New York City Police Department.
