Ivy Tech is trying something new this year: on-site admissions.

They were at North Central High School on Thursday.

The Sullivan County school is the only local school involved in the effort, so it’s definitely something special.

It means Ivy Tech advisors from all areas came to North Central to register seniors going to Ivy Tech next year for classes.

“They’re excited for the advisors to be here. College is kind of a mystery to high school students. We use a lot of terms that are unfamiliar and just to make those connections, and see how friendly, and inviting the advisors are,” says Tammy Young, a College Connection Coach.

The students we talked to Thursday agreed.

“Knowing that you’re going to have them there in the same building for you, they can just help you, show you around, help you know where your classes are and everything like that,” says Sierra Southwood, a senior.

It’s typical for seniors to go through a registration process on campus, but this year, Ivy Tech came to them.
