ISU Founders Day

Indiana State University celebrates its second oldest college.

The university paid tribute Wednesday to the College of Arts and Sciences with a Founders Day celebration.

It’s part of ISU’s Sesquicentennial Era.

Wednesday’s celebration included discussions about the university’s founders and where the university came from.

150 years ago, legislature authorized the creation of Indiana State Normal School.

“The creation of Indiana State was really about the professionalization, the understanding that teachers in the public schools needed a course of study to get them ready. That started here in Indiana and we’re very, very proud of that,” says ISU President Dan Bradley.
