Today we got a first glimpse of possible ISTEP changes. The state panel assigned to come up with an alternative to the standardized test sent its recommendations to the General Assembly.
Among the suggestions:
- Test results should be accurate and delivered in a timely manner. Ideally within one month.
- Local schools should decide how to include the results of state tests in teacher evaluations.
- Any changes should be deployed quickly. However, the panel noted that experts advise a timeline of two years.
