Investigation Leads to Felony Charges

Bob Durr the former owner of Durr’s Towing was arrested today on three counts of corrupt business influence, three counts of auto theft, 42 counts of perjury and 42 counts of forgery.
The 15 month long investigation started, with a citizen complaint that Durr’s Towing Company had stolen a vehicle.
Police say, Durr sold 50 cars that belonged to someone else.
The vehicles were towed from accidents and crime scenes.
An interesting note the complaint that started the probe came after Durr sold his business early last year.
Detective Brad Rumsey says without the citizen bringing the complaint to Terre Haute Police Department, there may never have been an investigation.
“When people come to us with things, that they believe need looked at, this is exactly what happened here. A citizen complained about something they thought was wrong, we looked into it and look where it’s brought us,” Brad Rumsey said. “So it does pay to tell the police when something happens.”
Law enforcement wants to emphasize that the current owners of Durr’s Towing are not under investigation.
and they are not involved in anyway to the case.
