Inmates Give Quilts to Christmas for Kids

News

The hard work of some local prison inmates will help families in need this holiday season.

The Wabash Valley Correctional Facility raises money for Sullivan County’s Christmas for Kids.

On Friday, offenders also donated quilts, toys, Christmas stockings and more.

The inmates made the items themselves.

Christmas For Kids will present them to Sullivan County families in need.

Officials say it’s a rewarding experience for everyone involved.

“It’s very important to us and I’m sure it’s very important to the offenders as well because they’re giving back to the community. I had the opportunity of meeting some of them last year and it’s really an important program for them. It comes from their heart,” says Roberta Russell with Christmas For Kids.

Christmas For Kids will hold  their annual Boot Drive Fundraiser on Saturday.

From 10 A.M. until 2 P.M., fire departments throughout Sullivan County will be at intersections, collecting money for the program.

Carlisle will start their fundraising at 8 A.M.

Also, if you want to donate gifts to the Christmas For Kids program, they especially need items for kids ages 12 through 15.
