Inmate escapes from Michigan City prison

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A prisoner escaped from an Indiana State prison in Michigan City Wednesday.

According to authorities, Travis Hornett, 39, fled from a work detail on the prison grounds Wednesday morning. He is believed to be still in the area.

Hornett is described as 5’04” with brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing khaki clothes when he fled.

Authorities said he should be considered dangerous.

Anyone who comes into contact with him should call 911 immediately, police said.

Michigan City is approximately 188 miles north of Terre Haute.
