Infant Ibuprofen Recall for Walmart, CVS and Family Dollar

HEALTH (CNN)- We have a very important recall that parents need to know about, regarding certain medicine you might have at home.

The maker of the store brands of infant ibuprofen from Walmart, CVS and Family Dollar is voluntarily recalling three lots of the meds.

Tris Pharma issued a news release saying they are recalling all three batches of its Infants' Ibuprofen Concentrated Oral Suspension, USP nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID), 50 mg per 1.25 mL.

In the release, they go on to say:

“There is a remote possibility that infants, who may be more susceptible to a higher potency level of drug, and therefore may be more vulnerable to permanent NSAID-associated renal injury. Adverse effects that may be experienced are nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain or, more rarely, diarrhea. Tinnitus, headache and gastrointestinal bleeding are also possible adverse effects. To date, Tris Pharma Inc. has not received any reports of adverse events related to the lots of product that are the subject of this recall.”

The brands of infant ibuprofen concentrated oral suspension are equate from Walmart, CVS Health, and Family Wellness at Family Dollar.  

If you have one of those, you should check with Tris Pharma to see if it's included in the recall.
