INDOT plans to work hours to clear snow on the roads

Since midnight Friday, INDOT crews have been working to make sure conditions are clear on all interstates, U.S. routes, and state roads.
INDOT says they will continue to have crews work 12 hour shifts until both snow and heavy winds come to a end.

Debbie Calder, communication director for the West-Central INDOT District, says freezing temperatures heading into sunday could make road clearing slightly more difficult but the department is prepared.

“One of the things, you know, that we are definitely going to be battling against is the dropping temperatures. And you know, we have to add some magnesium chloride or calcium chloride to the salt. Especially when anything gets below 15 degrees,” Calder said.
