INDIANA (WTWO/WAWV) — More than one thousand snow plow trucks will be traveling on Indiana roads in the next 48 hours to prepare for winter weather.

Indiana Department of Transportation will deploy 1,100 plows trucks over the next couple of days to treat interstates, U.S. routes and state roads.

INDOT crews will begin patrolling highways at 8 p.m. Sunday. INDOT has 200,000 tons of salt for roadways across the state, 100,000 gallons of brine.

More than 1,800 employees are on-call to cover 28,000 miles of roadway. INDOT reminds drivers to stay off the roadways if possible and give plow drivers plenty of room to do their job.
