TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Graduate students of ISU’s class of 2021 received their diplomas during an in-person commencement ceremony Friday.

More than 500 students were given their graduate degrees. One-hundred-nineteen doctoral degrees were given and 382 master’s degrees. COVID-19 protocols, like social distancing are in place for commencement ceremonies.

Doctorate student, Megan Zaknoun, shares what it was like earning her degree during a pandemic.

“Just being able to roll with the punches and the changes. Luckily I have an amazing group of friends and faculty and staff that have helped us all through it,” Zaknoun said. “It could have been a lot worse, but we made it through it and i think it teaches us all how to adapt to changes and just how to perservere.”

Ceremonies continued Saturday for undergraduates. More than 1,500 undergraduates accepted their diplomas this weekend.
