Indiana State students react to Terre Haute Police debut on Live PD

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Terre Haute Police Department made their debut on network television show Live PD on Friday night.

“I think it’s pretty interesting to see what really goes on behind the scenes,” said Indiana State student, Elizabeth Salazar.

THPD officers Justin Gant and Daniel Johnson were the first to appear on the show.

“I enjoy seeing local police departments getting positive support from the community. And being in a light where the local populous can see how they can help the community,” said ISU student Zach Blackwell.

For one ISU senior, he said the show gives him a look into his future career.

“I’m doing my internship next semester with the Terre Haute Police Department. So I guess I’ll get kind of a sneak peek of what they deal with everyday,” said Taylor Fulton.

Students said they also like that the show allows them to see what’s happening around them.

“I just kind of look forward to knowing what’s going on after hours. No one really knows. We’re just stuck on campus most of the time. So it’ll be interesting to know what’s going on when we’re not out,” Fulton said.

The most popular opinion of Terre Haute Police on Live PD is that students believe it’s a “cool” opportunity.

Live PD will air again Saturday night beginning at 9 p.m. on the A&E Network.
