INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A civilian employee with Indiana State Police is confirmed to have COVID-19.

ISP said in a release the employee is assigned to the State Police’s Laboratory Division in Indianapolis and received notice Sunday that they tested positive for the virus.

They are hospitalized, according to police.

They said a co-worker who was last known to have worked closely with the patient has self-quarantined at home as a precaution.

According to ISP, they are making notifications with additional co-workers.

The police department said they are working closely with the Indiana State Department of Health.

“We are continuing to monitor the situation and following accepted virus mitigation practices for the health and safety of its employees, their families and the greater community,” they said in a press release.
