Indiana State Police continue increased patrols for holiday travel

VIGO Co., Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The thanksgiving holiday weekend is coming to an end … Which means travelers are getting back on the roads and officers are still in full force.

Toward the start of the Thanksgiving week, AAA estimated there would be nearly 55 million travelers nationwide over the holiday.

In the local area, Indiana State Police increased patrols starting Wednesday on Interstate 70 and other local highways.

ISP sergeant Matt Ames says although travel in the Putnamville District went well overall, drivers should still do their best to be mindful on the road.

“We did cite a driver earlier this weekend for 84 in a 60-mile an hour here on the interstate. That driver was stopped and received the appropriate citations,” Sgt. Ames said.

Indiana state police troopers will continue their holiday patrols today through midnight Sunday.
