INDIANAPOLIS (WTWO/WAWV) — Food, rides, entertainment, competitions and more. The Indiana State Fair has something for everyone.
The 2019 Indiana State Fair will kickoff Friday and run through Aug. 18.
Building and exhibit hours will run from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily throughout the fair. Gate and midway hours will vary depending on the day.
This year’s theme is “Heroes in the Heartland” honoring Hoosier farmers, first responders, educators, members of the armed forces and many others
Keeping with the theme, special meet and greets with super heroes will be held every day of the fair.
For those on a budget, fair officials promise at least 100 free things to do while at the fairgrounds including putt-putt golf and numerous exhibits and demonstrations.
The Big Top Circus will return again this year with all new acts, and better yet, it is free with paid Fair admission.
Foodies won’t be disappointed this year with plenty of new and returning favorites to choose from.
Try an Angry Pretzel Popper with Mad Ranch Sauce, Duck Fat Fries or Bacon Poutine. For those with a sweet tooth, how about a Deep Fried Chocolate Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich or a Super Hero USA All the Way Pancake?
A wide variety of musical entertainment will be held throughout the fair including performances by Air Supply, Switchfoot, KC and the Sunshine Band, Boys II Men, Everclear and more.
The Pop 2000 Tour hosted by Lance Bass and featuring O’Town, Aaron Carter, Ryan Cabrera and more will take the stage Aug. 9.
Seating for all performances is first come, first serve.
It wouldn’t be the State Fair without livestock competitions.
Several other competitions will also round out the fair schedule including a fiddle contest, open car show, BBQ cook-off, cheerleading competition and so much more.
