INDIANAPOLIS (WTWO/WAWV) – Senate Bill 255, co-authored by Indiana Senator Jon Ford was amended on the House floor Tuesday.

Representative Robin Shackleford amended the bill to cap insured monthly insulin costs at $100. That’s regardless of the number of prescriptions and different types of insulin.

The intention of the original bill draft aimed to repeal a provision that required an insulin prescription. Ford says that would give insulin-dependent people more options to purchase the drug, possibly from Canada or online.

Senator Jon Ford says that the amended bill will head to the Full House tomorrow for a vote.
