BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — An Indianapolis man was arrested for resisting law enforcement after a short foot pursuit took place on Wednesday afternoon.

According to an Indiana State Police release, a driver was pulled over by a Trooper for not wearing a seatbelt at the intersection of Fountain Drive and N. Crescent Road. The release noted that the driver had no form of personal identification and no vehicle information.

The driver, later identified as Matthew Johnson, 33, of Indianapolis, initially gave false information regarding his identity and fled the vehicle on foot into a nearby wooded area. Other officers in the area and the Bloomington Police Department assisted in the pursuit.

Johnson was found inside an apartment building on N. Crescent Road and Bloomington Police Department officers took Johnson into custody where he was later transported to the Monroe County Jail.

Throughout the investigation, it was determined that Johnson was wanted on a warrant from Lawrence County for contempt of court.
