IN: Woman Dies in Fatal Car Crash in Gibson County

An Indiana woman is dead after an early morning accident involving two cars in Gibson County.

It happened just after 10:00 a.m., on US Highway 41 at County Road 100 West near Princeton.

According to Indiana State Police, 65-year-old Thomas Lee Sowders of Owensboro, Kentucky was traveling northbound on US 41 in a semi, when 45-year-old Elena Williams of Haubstadt, who was traveling southbound, pulled into the path of the semi. Both vehicles collided, the semi struck the driver’s side.

Williams was transported to Gibson General Hospital in Princeton where she died from her injuries. Sowders was taken to Deaconess Gateway where he is currently being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

At this time, investigating troopers are unable to determine which driver had the green traffic light.

The investigation is on-going.
