INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department provided a guideline to the gate entry search policy at the Indianapolis 500.
Permitted items:
- Coolers (restricted to 18″x14“x14“)
- Food and beverages
- Binoculars, scanners and cameras
- Camera stands (tripods, monopods, etc.)
- Strollers
- Lawn chairs and camping chairs
- Flags and umbrellas as long as they do not obstruct the view of others or display negative content
- Carts and wagons (except on Race Day)
- Mobility aids

Prohibited items:
- Weapons (including pocketknives, firearms and ammunition of any kind)
- Fireworks or flares
- Flagpoles
- Unmanned aerial vehicles (drones)
- Selfie sticks
- Animals (except service animals)
- Lasers of any kind
- Roller blades, skateboards and skates
- Hover boards or scooters
- Golf carts
- Coolers larger than 18″x14“x14“
- Glass containers
- Stickers
- Scaffolding or platforms
- Illegal drugs or drug paraphernalia
- Sampling or flyers of any kind
- Aerosol cans
- Professional cameras or audio/video recording equipment (concerts only)
