Impaired, distracted driving causes Vermillion Co. crash

A Clinton man admitted to distracted driving following a single-vehicle accident.
 
Around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, Vermillion County deputies responded to a reported accident on CR 1510 S where they found a Jeep Cherokee had struck a tree head on.
 
According to authorities, the driver, Jeffrey Dwyer, age 25, of Clinton, Ind. admitted he was distracted by his cellphone, causing his vehicle to veer of the roadway.
 
Deputies also reported smelling alcohol coming from Dwyer, and it was determined that he had a blood alcohol of 0.11 percent and marijuana in his system.
 
Dwyer was also found to have an outstanding warrant out of Parke County.
 
He was taken into custody after receiving medical attention, and transported to the Vermillion County Jail pending posting of bond.
