Illinois to offer free COVID-19 vaccines, testing at state fair


SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Illinois Department of Public Health announced this week it will be providing free COVID-19 vaccinations at six different locations at the Illinois State Fair between Aug. 12 and Aug. 22.

The one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be available for free at all six locations on the state fairgrounds in Springfield, Ill. COVID-19 testing will also be available at all vaccination locations except the Illinois Building.

In order to receive a vaccine, people should bring photo identification and an insurance card, if they have one. Proof of immigration status is not required. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is only authorized for people 18 and older.
