CLARK COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) – If you’ve ever been interested in becoming a state police trooper, Illinois State Police is accepting applications for its next cadet class.
The Illinois State Police Academy’s next cadet class will start in October. They’re accepting applications until May 31.
Those who become troopers start in a patrol section and can eventually go on to specialize in different areas.
Trooper Tammy Welborn says it’s a noble profession and described the qualities they’re looking for.
“We’re looking for someone who is a self-starter, someone who can work without someone looking over their shoulder continuously. Someone who is self-motivated, someone who possesses the qualities of integrity, someone who is wanting to be a public servant,” explains Trooper Welborn. “That kind of brings about our three pillars of integrity, service and pride that our agency stands on.”
