CLARK COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Martinsville man charged in relation to the stabbing death of Louis Riggs in Marshall this summer had his case continued in Clark County.
Domnick Zedell, 30, was initially charged with second-degree murder as well as obstructing justice related to the July 29 death. However, earlier this month the Clark County State’s Attorney added the charge of first degree murder.
Court records show Zedell, represented by defense attorney William D. McGrath, requested a continuance in the case, which was granted by the judge vacating the planned November jury trial.
During a hearing held on October 18, the prosecution told the judge that some elements of evidence are still being processed at the lab at this time. The judge directed both the defense and prosecution to have all motions filed by December 31.
Zedell is scheduled to appear in court for a case management conference on January 3, 2024, with a jury trial tentatively scheduled for February 13. Zedell remains in the custody of the Clark County Sheriff as the case continues.
