SPRINGFIELD (WTWO/WAWV) – The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 1,231 new coronavirus cases from 30,567 tests Monday afternoon, as well as 18 more deaths from the illness.
These new numbers bring the totals to 172,655 cases and 7,416 deaths from over 2.5 million tests throughout the state. Over 1,400 people are hospitalized due to the illness, with 350 of those patients in intensive care.
The deaths were mostly concentrated in highly-populated Cook County, and the victims in all but two cases were over the age of 50.
Illinois is also reporting 1,242 probable cases and 192 probable deaths in keeping with guidelines from the CDC.
