ISDH: New COVID-19 cases continuing to reach beyond 1,000, single new death reported

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana State Department of Health on Sunday reported 1,048 new cases of COVID-19, setting a new daily total record for the fourth consecutive day.

That brings 74,328 to be the total number of Indiana residents known to have the novel Coronavirus.

Several new cases were reported locally including 32 new cases in Vigo County and 13 in Sullivan County. Other counties reporting new cases included: Vermillion (3), Greene (4) Knox (3), Clay (5), and Daviess (9).

A total of 2,838 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of 1 over the previous day.

Another 206 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by ISDH and occurred over multiple days.           

As of Sunday, nearly 36.9 percent of ICU beds and nearly 82.6 percent of ventilators are available across the state.

To date, 841,125 tests for unique individuals have been reported to ISDH, up from 828,466 on Thursday.
