Indiana’s legislative session is over, but lawmakers are still working.
The Black Legislative Caucus stopped in Terre Haute for a local town hall Saturday.
The IBLC has these meetings to give Hoosiers an opportunity to have an open forum with their legislators and discuss the 2016 legislative season.
Members of the Terre Haute community stopped by to ask legislative members questions, as well as make suggestions on issues they would like to see the IBLC address during future sessions.
Legislative assistant, Ashley Gurvitz, thinks it’s important the community attends these events to increase participation in the political process.
“Everything from our daily living entails some type of rule or regulation. So what better way to make the best informative decisions in your life are to know what actually has occurred in our legislative body,” says Gurvitz.
Gurvitz advocates for these town hall meetings because it helps legislators make decisions you’d like to see happen.
