Nick Cullison of Hymera knows how to hunt mushrooms well.
In 4 days he found 40 pounds of mushrooms. In the picture above, you can see 25 pounds worth from one of his hauls from Sullivan County. He says it is a lot of work, but he hopes to pass it on to future generations.
Nick Cullison said, “oh yeah its a good family activity. Get your friends involved get them outside, get them in the woods. We’ve had a couple years ago we took a couple of our friends into a patch that we had found the evening before and picked all I could until dark. And then the next morning we brought the ladies and the kids back and I believe we picked roughly 30 pounds in that patch. It was one of the biggest patches we’ve ever found, ya know.”
Cullison also told our photographer that he would like us to join him next year on one of his hunts.
