Indiana State Police detectives are working a crime scene out of Putnam County, where officials say what appears to be human skeletal remains found near the Van Bibber Lake area.
The remains were found earlier at around 12:45 PM on Thursday, by a mushroom hunter. Detectives immediately called in members of ISP’s Crime Scene Unit and the Putnam County Coroner’s Office to the scene.
Investigators say they will spend the next few weeks to identify the remains found; at this time they will not speculate age, sex or otherwise. However detectives say they are investigating a possible lead that this may be related to a missing person’s case reported back in November 2016.
State police officials say this is an ongoing investigation and will not release further information at this time.
