A big night for local law enforcement as Terre Haute’s finest honored some of their own.
The I.S.U. Banquet Center was the site of the 27th Annual Terre Haute Police Department’s Officers Recognition and Commendation Dinner. This important event provides the men and women in blue wth the chance to recognize some the finest achievements over the past year. Our own Tom McClanahan served as an emcee.
The Officer of the Year, was K-9 Handler and Uniform Division Officer Ivan Walker and the Mike Dinkel Memorial Award went to Chrissy John.
“We like to reward officers for a job well done especially those that kind of set themselves aside for the prosperity of the community,” said Sgt. Todd Haller.
The Civilian Service A ward went to Dispatcher Vickie Oster. The Life Saving Award recipient was Officer Ryan Plasse.
There were many other awards and citations, including three Unit Citation Awards that were presented posthumously to Officer Rob Pitts. He was killed on May 4th while responding to a homicide investigation.
Congratulations to all the winners and thank you for your service.
