A cherished piece of Bloomfield history is honored today for the 150 th year “Old Clifty” has been complete.
Old Clifty is the Old Clifton Church that still stands with most of its original structure including it’s log exterior and hardwood floors on the inside. Men started building Old Clifty before the Civil War, went off to go fight and those who came back, finished the church in 1867.
“Like all things they ebb and flow, but the fact that it’s still standing and still in good shape considering, it means a lot to a lot of people,” Malea Huffman with Old Clifty association said.
Church serviced are not held at Old Clifty, but community ceremonies during the Christmas season and weddings use the historic venue.
