Hit It Off The Tee golf outing benefits Lilly’s Friends

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Locals gathered at Hulman Links Golf Course Saturday for a game of golf benefiting a local organization.

The second-annual Hit It Off The Tee For Safety golf outing supported Lilly’s Friends, an organization that pays for Vigo and Clay County families to receive tracking bracelets for loved ones who are prone to wander off.

Lilly’s Friends founder Erin Withers says she was inspired to start this organization after her daughter wandered off near their home and Withers couldn’t locate her.

Luckily, the daughter was eventually found, but Withers says she wanted to give other families the chance to avoid the panic she felt that day.

“Nobody should ever fear for their child if they are in that position. They should always have a way to protect them, and this is a way to give peace of mind for sleeping at night and just being able to find them safely,” said Withers.

Withers says Parke County will soon be another location where the bracelets are available.
