Amongst the festivities, the Vigo County Historical Society honored two accomplished writers, and long time natives.
Authors Dorothy Jerse and Mike McCormick were awarded the first annual History Maker Award. They both tied in nominations, because of their efforts to preserve and promote local history. Being awarded is something they say, they didn’t expect, but it humbles them.
“I’m a little overwhelmed to be sharing it with Mike McCormick, the Vigo county historian. But I was surprised and I was pleased both,” says author of “On this Day in Terre Haute History,” Dorothy Jerse.
“I’m very honored. I appreciate the recognition and my heart goes out to the Historical Society which has been a long favorite of mine.” says author of “Terre Haute: Queen City of the Wabash,” Mike McCormick.
The Vigo County Historical Society looks forward to many more Hautians receiving this award, for years to come.
